Lucy Martin

Lucy is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Inherited Cardiac Conditions (ICC) at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, with many years of experience in cardiovascular nursing. She is a founding member of the ICC Nursing and Midwifery Network, now formally known as the BICCS nursing and midwifery forum, and a proud Nightingale Nurse.

Her clinical interests include genetic counselling, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO), and the management of inherited cardiac conditions in patients with muscular dystrophies. Lucy is regularly invited to present on ICC topics at both national and international levels.

She has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications in collaboration with colleagues, with a particular focus on advancing the role of nurses within ICC services. Prior to her current role, Lucy worked with the British Heart Foundation, where she frequently appeared on national television and radio, raising awareness of the importance of cascade family screening in inherited cardiac conditions.

Beyond her clinical work, Lucy is passionate about education, shared learning, and professional networking. She has successfully established and led teaching initiatives across the trust cardiology nurse specialist network.
