Gemma Bassindale
Advanced Cardiac Scientist (Leeds)

Gemma is an Advanced Cardiac Scientist working at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, specialising in echocardiography. Since 2017, she has served as the lead clinical scientist for the ICC clinic in Leeds, where she has played a key role in developing scientist-led cardiomyopathy screening and myosin inhibitor clinics.
Gemma has a specialist interest in the echo assessment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She is currently in the final year of the HSST PhD programme, undertaking research into the use of novel echocardiographic biomarkers in symptomatic hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She maintains close links with the British Society of Echocardiography and is passionate about expanding the role of cardiac physiologists/scientists within the ICC setting.
